Welcome to Seanna's Exotic Birds
As a child and a young adult, we were always fascinated with exotic birds. Back then I saw they were beautiful creatures, but never realized how intelligent they were, nor did I know they had feelings and emotions like us humans. Like most people, I thought they just mimicked, and were just so-called birds. Little did I know, they had big lessons to teach me about their intelligence. One night while working as a night RN, another nurse called and asked if anyone was willing to give 3 cockatiels a home. Her so-called rat terrier puppy was terrorizing them, so I told her to bring them into work and I would take them home. Soon thereafter, they had babies, and my husband with no experience began hand feeding them. Our next purchase was a Patagonian Conure, followed by Kalli an Amazon who talked and danced. The woman who sold her was terminally ill, and was going back to Chicago to be with her children, and she feared Kalli could not tolerate the cold. She made me promise I would keep her long as I found it feasible. By then I really had the so-called fever went to a bird show to purchase a baby macaw. When looking at baby macaws, I heard a loud squawk and the people surrounding an area also screamed. It was a blue & gold macaw named Blair, he began laughing at the crowd, and I thought to myself, that is the bird for me. I watched Blair entertain the crowd, step up to everyone, and after two hours purchased him. I will never forget calling my husband on the way home informing him we had a new member of the family. When walking into our home with Blair, my husband stepped back stating "That beak is pretty big". Within a few hours though, he was just as intrigued as I, and in a short period of time fell in love with Blair......
Soon thereafter, we purchased Ralph to keep Blair company, then Boo Boo, also a blue and gold macaw. The next bird was a so-called male Harlequin macaw named Elvis. He was an abused macaw that had been kept in the dark, and meaner than dirt. After bringing him home, Elvis took one look at Blair, and dropped infertile eggs. Oops! Elvis was a girl. We tried separating them because Blair was only 2 years old, but after purchasing four other males, who she beat to the ground, my husband allowed them to stay together. This past January 2008, they gave us their first clutch of babies.
Seanna's Exotic Birds was first established in 2001, with the name registered in 2007. Even though we are a fairly new aviary, because of all of my mentors with their 20 plus years of experience, we feel confident to assure you of the quality of our birds. We have photos to back our exotic birds at different stages, and also show one of our aviaries, our breeders, and our pets.
The web site is named after my daughter, Seanna Lynn Kloss, who died in the US Army in Kitzingon, Germany in 1993. She loved all creatures big and small, and was my inspiration when I went back to school for nursing. When I wanted to give up, she was there prompting me "Mom, You can do it". Nothing can ever take the pain away of losing her, but since becoming with the exotic birds, not a day goes by that I don't have a laugh or smile on my face. We are also involved in educational programs when called upon and have used our pet birds for charitable events, donating all money and our time to the event.
Execution Web Design is responsible for the design, and graphics. After reviewing, and editing over 1000 pictures 2OO were selected to initiate the developement of the web site. Pictures will be changed and updated on a regular basis. So please come back, and visit on a regular basis. If you have any questions or comments please call or email us.
